Stay at Martha’s Vineyard’s largest and most elegant vacation rental. The home has all of the modern amenities yet preserves it’s historic grandeur and ambiance. The Captain Morse House is a up-scale luxury vacation rental in Edgartown’s central Village. This elegant Captain’s Home is just 3 blocks to Main Street, shopping, dining, beach, golf & fishing. There are 26 beautiful rooms with 12 bedrooms, 7 baths, 2 kitchens 2 dining rooms and a large patio and lawn. Located on North Water Street the two spacious front porches face waters of Edgartown Harbor and the Edgartown North Wharf with dockage and launch service. Our backyard is large enough to host an event of up to 150 people. There is casual dining seating for up to 24. The home is flexible and can accommodate a crowd yet be gracious and comfortable for a family. Private off street parking, free bicycles, beach toys and a concierge all work to complete your vacation experience.

Accommodations
The home can sleep up to 25 but can also be split into a duplex to accommodate as few as 5. There are 26 rooms; 12 bedrooms, 7 bath, 2 full kitchens and 2 dining rooms. There are two large front porches facing the harbor and a large backyard, patio and garden perfect for weddings and events. We have handicap accessibility.
A Truly Historic House
A beautiful part of Edgartown’s history, the Captain Morse House was built in 1840 in the Greek Revival Style. The home is on the National Register of Historic Places and sits prominently on the corner of Morse and North Water Street. Captain Morse sailed to the California Gold fields from his wharf at the foot of his street. His home has known only three owners. His family, the Dinsmore’s and the Johnson’s. The home has retained it’s original character and is considered a very fine example of a N.E. whaling Captain’s home.

The Captain Morse House provides plenty of space for relaxation and entertaining. Bringing families together for special events and anniversaries has become a specialty. Relax on our large patio and grill your favorite meal or hire a private chef for a truly relaxing time for everyone.

We allow a few special events each year for guests who stay at the house. We have hosted Weddings, Corporate Retreats, Vow Renewals, Celebrations of Life and, our specialty, Far Flung Family Reunions. We are often sold out by the first of the year so now is always the best time to start planning for your stay.

Our visit to the Captain Morse House was amazing and we didn’t want to leave. The Captain Morse House is a large, beautiful mansion that accommodated our family of 19 perfectly. It is elegant and yet comfortable and each of us found a favorite room to relax in. Shops and restaurants were within walking distance along with the beach.
We can’t wait to go back, we loved it that much.
