General Public Ferry Reservations
The Steamship Authority opens up its booking system early in the year for travel from May 14, 2026, through October 22, 2026
You can make reservations Starting at 8 a.m. Reservations for travel from May 14 to October 22, 2026, will be accepted on February 3, 2026.
We encourage you to make your ferry reservations as soon as you can.

Transferable Ferry Reservations
After about February 1st of each year, we do have "some" reservations for weeks that we still have vacancies.
We will post them here and in other locations.
If it is before the tickets go on sale, you should make your own reservations.
Before Ticket Opening Day
Get the vacation rental that you want and sign up for your ideal week. If you are doing this before the ferry tickets go on sale you are smart.
Just don't forget to mail in a request for tickets or go online when the tickets go on sale.
We suggest that you come over around 3:00 pm on your arrival day
Plan to leave the island around 11:00 am on your departure day.
ARE CARS NECESSARY? NOT AT ALL
Many guests arrive on the island and use a rental car, taxi, bus or bike. There is plenty to explore around your vacation rental. Don't be a slave to your car.
After Ticket Opening Day
Identify the vacation rental that you want.
If you are doing this after the ferry tickets go on sale, you may still have some options.
Get a ferry ticket as close as possible to 3:00 pm on your arrival day. If you have to arrive early just plan to go to the beach, have lunch etc.
Get your departure tickets as close to 11:00 am on your departure day as you can.
Then, sign up for the waiting list. There is a lot of movement and the waiting list works very well as long as you have a wide enough request. For example a departure anytime between 6:00 am and 1:00 pm will get filled better than 10:00 am to 12:00 noon.
Once you have your ferry tickets Sign the lease and make the payment on the vacation rental
