Beach Chairs and Umbrellas: Your Island Comfort Toolkit
One of the small but mighty perks of staying at Captain Morse House is that we go the extra mile to make your seaside experience more relaxing. When it's time to hit the beach, the last thing you want is to wrestle with flimsy gear or lug everything from home. That’s why we provide beach chairs with backpack straps and umbrellas—designed for convenience, ease, and durability.
Why We Supply Them (and Why It Matters)
We believe that every moment of your beach day should be fun, not frustrating. Getting down to the sand, staking out your own little patch of paradise, and settling in for reading or shell‑hunting should feel effortless. Rather than requiring guests to bring their own bulky gear, or scrambling to rent local chairs (if rentals even exist), we keep a small fleet of quality gear ready for use.

Here’s a peek at what we have:
- Tommy Bahama backpack beach chairs — These are excellent all‑rounders. Lightweight, easy to carry, and comfortable enough for a full “day at the dunes.” We currently have six of these.
- Umbrellas — We keep a couple of sturdy umbrellas to complement the chairs and give you shade when the midday sun gets a bit too generous.
- Sport-Brella (XL model + chair) — For days when you want extra shelter, we’ve tried and tested this combo ourselves. We picked it up on special from the company and it lives up to the promise of enhanced coverage.
These are not just random picks. We personally own these models, we trust them, and we endorse them. In fact, if any of these show up in the house after your stay, it’s because they’ve served you well—and we’re keeping them around for future visitors.
Bring Your Own (or Order Ahead)
We totally understand that some guests prefer their own setup. If you have a favorite beach chair or umbrella, feel free to bring it. In many cases, you can even ship gear directly to the island ahead of your arrival—just be sure to coordinate timing and delivery.
If you're still in the planning stage and haven’t settled on gear, here are a few tips and product ideas that align with what we already provide:
- Look for backpack‑style chairs. These free up your hands for keys, flip-flops, or grabbing your morning coffee.
- Choose umbrellas with a durable, tiltable frame so you can angle shade as the sun moves.
- Don’t skimp on materials—look for chairs made with UV‑resistant fabric and rust‑resistant frames.
- Consider compact, packable setups if you're biking or walking down to the beach—less bulk is always better.
If one of our chairs or umbrellas is damaged or missing after a stay, we might need to assess a small replacement fee. But rest assured, we do regular maintenance to keep everything in good working order for your enjoyment.

Your Beach Day, Upgraded
Imagine this: You walk down to the beach with ease, chair slung over your back, umbrella tucked securely in hand. You stake your spot, set up, and settle in. No chasing local rental vendors, no struggling with twisted parts, no uncertainty. Just toes in the sand, a good book, an umbrella overhead, and the rhythmic lull of waves.
That’s the kind of beach day we want you to have. Minimal hassle, maximum comfort, and a sense that every detail—big or small—was thought through.
