Event Guidelines
Large events can be held at the house if you let us know exactly what you have in mind. Edgartown has strict laws regarding using ones home for a party or wedding and we also like our neighbors quite a bit. In general your caterer or wedding planner needs to apply with the town to "run their business" from the property. We have compiled a list of preferred vendors. We will need to know who the caterer is and a wedding planner if there is one involved. Events that are held at the home may be subject to additional charges and security deposit may apply depending on the nature of the use of the home, number of guests etc.
Typically people plan for an afternoon or evening cocktail party followed by dinner.
Guests should be leaving by 10:00pm with everyone pretty much gone and the house quiet by 11:00pm
The back yard measures 31' x 70; and can accomodate a tent that is 30' x 50'
This is a residential neighborhood so a live band or dancing need special permission from the town of Edgartown. Anything that would attract any attention from neighbors or (heaven forbid) the police due to a noise violation cannot happen at the home. Any noise violation would hold you and your caterer fully responsible. Music must end by 9:00pm according to town ordinance.
For a walk on the wild side there are lots of places downtown that can host a great dance party. Best of all they are all within walking distance.
With all that strict stuff said the home still can provide a wonderful and memorable evening. My parents entertained a lot at the home and everyone always had a grand time.
